Biography

Born in Italy on June 20, 1969, to a father working in advertising, he grows up immersed in Communication and Design. His passion for drawings manifested at an early age, leads him to a first publication at age 8: a series of 12 illustrations for Polistil, in the book “Scegliamo Insieme un Giocattolo” (Let’s Pick a Toy Together). By the age of 14, his portfolio already includes illustrations for clients such as Renault, Philips, and numerous Pharmaceutical Companies. For Manetti & Roberts, he designed the packaging of Neutro Roberts Deodorant, which remained active for many years. He pursues his education at the Institute of Art “Beato Angelico” in Milan, with a high school degree as Master of Arts, while maintaining professional relationships with Advertising Agencies. In 1989 he entered Polytechnic of Architecture of Milan specialising in Industrial Design while simultaneously, at age 19, starting work as a Graphic Designer at Syncronia, a well known Advertising Agency. The start of this creative advertising career will lead him to the position of Creative Director, subsequently confirmed after the 2001 merger with the DDB International Agency. Over the years, his passion for design and art never diminishes. Moving from figurative to informal, he realised that colour was not just fundamental to his work but rather, notwithstanding being colour-blind, he cannot avoid it. In 1992, he prepared three large-format works where colour and materials are preponderant; these are the first commissioned works. In November 1994, an important producer of Corrugated Cardboard, having noticed his works exposed at an AD Agency, commissioned 21 works to be constructed with his company’s materials. These were his first black and white works. The same entrepreneur the following year commissions another 20 works made of the same material. These expand past the creative use of materials, as his personality comes through. Over the years, colours occasionally straightforwardly return to the forefront: no half-tones, these canvases are monochromatic red, white, yellow or blue. In his artistic evolution, colour plays a supporting role to the materials, where it is mixed, transformed or altered by fusion with black, to later reappear as traces or shades as an undercurrent, unstoppable and silently yearned. Favorite is the big sizes where the sign, that I define as “Vertical Concept,” can be unlimited, even in those rare cases where it becomes horizontal (“Vertical Concept even if Horizontal”). In 1999, he first displayed in a group exhibition in Tarquinia. In June of 2015, selected by many others international artists, I take part in a group exhibition in Warsaw, The WIA EXPO. In that event, he proposes two works that will be hosted, once return in Italy, at the showroom in Rome of a well-known architect. He then realises, in May 2016, at Rome, a solo exhibition exposing thirty of his artworks. Having success the curator as well as his criticism, once finished, holds in Rome a series of achievements to be handled for designing architects and decorators. In 2016 it is the meeting with the curator and critic Massimiliano Bisazza who immediately understands the value and the depth of his artworks. Mutual esteem and artistic affinity lead to the setting up in January 2017 of a solo exhibition at the gallery Statuto13. Space rich and sophisticated in the intellectual heart of Milan - Brera District - where his works, with their vibrant language, find the ideal setting. The strengthened artistic relationship with Bisazza is so that a new staff emerges, which is also a new project and manifesto of his art. The exhibition, set in January 2018 always in the gallery Statuto13, will present 13 unpublished works, which celebrate his special chromatic sensibility as an artist with congenital daltonism. The title “Re-see” expresses the path of the author, always looking for his way to reinterpret and manifest the colours according to his perception, continually projected in an undefined world of present-absent chromium. Following this important event, Biondi participates in the Art Fair Affordable Art Fair (AAF 2018), in Milan, where leading names and emerging talents from the international art scene are welcomed in more than 80 galleries in one large exhibition space. In January 2019 Biondi is again present at Affordable Art Fair, this time with a whole dedicated stand of 12 square meters named "Vertical Concepts". In addition to this important affirmation, the year begins immediately with a series of projects and initiatives curated by Massimiliano Bisazza, confirming a collaboration full of stimuli and successes: a solo-exhibition that will be held in May and an exhibition in an original setting. Of great prestige, 10 windows overlooking Foro Buonaparte that the Elite Clinic makes available to the artist. An image project that includes the study and printing of a catalogue in 100 copies.
